OUR HISTORY

Legacy in Every Layer:
Unveiling RTL's Journey of Three Decades in Mining, Construction, and Excellence.

Established in 1991 as a joint venture between Roche Mining (later becoming Downer EDI), Thiess, and Linfox, RTL Mining and Earthworks Pty Ltd has evolved into a premier provider of mining, construction, and maintenance services with a rich history spanning over 30 years. Our early years were marked by strategic partnerships, including our present key shareholders , Thiess (now 88%), and Linfox (12%). Over the decades, RTL has consistently demonstrated our commitment to excellence and innovation in the mining and construction sectors.
 
In 2011, RTL was officially incorporated as RTL Mining and Earthworks Pty Ltd, signalling a milestone in our growth. Our transformative journey includes a shift from a local business to a well-established organisation known for our expertise, professionalism, and dedication to quality.
 
RTL’s involvement in landmark projects, such as the $1 billion Victorian Desalination Project and major diversions of the Morwell River, showcases its impact on shaping critical infrastructure in Australia.
In 2020, Thiess acquired the “Roche” shares from Downer, becoming an 88% shareholder in RTL. RTL’s shareholders Thiess and Linfox have a combined 158 years of experience and employ over 36,000 people globally.
 
Today, RTL stands as a trusted industry leader with an annual turnover exceeding AU $130 million and a workforce of approximately 350 employees.
