Project Challenge

RTL’s team is mine and produce coal for the Yallourn Coal Power Station, part of these works is the Bulk Earthworks to remover overburden/over-height that site above the coal deposit at the Yallourn Mine. RTL’s team constructs haul roads and undertakes bulk earthworks to strip and haul over 4,000,000BCM annually of overburden from the mining pit and place into the overburden dump.

RTL has successfully delivered mining and earthworks works at the Yallourn Mine for Energy Australia for over 30 years. RTL is proud to be the contractor of choice for this mine for over 30 years and so much so has entered into an alliance based model with the client that allows RTL to operate and manage the mine successfully for over 30 years. RTL has established a local workforce that utilises and supports local business’ in its operations to become a cornerstone of the local community.

Project Outcomes

2. Our commitment to responsible mining doesn’t stop. As part of this alliance RTL has been able to operate and manage the day to day run of the mine by employing local operators, fitters, administrations, engineers and management team as well as enter into agreements with other local and national business’ to ensure the successful delivery of this Project.

3. RTL is the contractor of choice to complete these works until the end of mine life, this puts RTL in a unique position as the only mining contractor to have been able to operate the Yallourn Mine – Over-height – Bulk Earthworks Project from its inception to the mines completion.
