Project Challenge

RTL’s was engaged to construct a river diversion of Sheepwash Creek to manage flood protection as the mine expanded. Stage 1 was initiated in 2012 and Stage 2 completed in 2020 which shows illustrated RTL’s commitment to complete staged projects over the span of 9 years.

RTL's Approach

RTL delivered this construct Project by engaging all relevant client and stakeholders groups across the board as well as staging and co-ordinating the works in a timely manner to optimise the amount of cut to fill operations.

Project Outcomes

1. Construction of a 1 in 1000-year flood mitigation for the Loy Yang Mine and Sheepwash Creek tributary

2. RTL was able to successfully co-ordinate the use of different skill sets to undertake a multi-disciplined civil project

3. RTL underlined is position to be the contractor of choice to complete these works at Loy Yang not just for Mining and earthwork Projects, but once again showed it ability to undertake and deliver complex brown field civil works within the Loy Yang Mine site.
