Project Challenge
RTL’s project involved design and construct contract for the duplication of the separate two-lane carriageways to provide a four-lane divided highway on the Flynn to Rosedale section of the Princess Highway.
RTL's Approach
RTL successfully delivered the project with major safety challenges were working adjacent to live, highspeed traffic (over ten thousand vehicle movements per day), plant/personnel/heavy vehicle interaction and working adjacent to overhead and underground services (such as Gippsland Water’s Regional Outfall Sewer).
Project Outcomes
1. A four-lane divided carriageway with a fifteen metre wide median.
2. Two new bridges over Flynn’s Creek, to the south of the existing carriageway.
3. Two new bridges over Blind Joe’s Creek.
4. New culverts, including major structures at Middle Creek, Flynn’s Creek and east of Wrights Lane.
5. Provision of the replacement eastbound truck stop at the existing Flynn’s Creek Bridge.
6. Wide median treatments at Flynn’s Creek Road, Wrights Lane and Cricket Street intersections.
7. Utility relocations and alterations (water, sewer, Telstra and power).
